Dr. C. Neal Johnson has an extensive and unique background as an attorney, published author, educator, businessman and entrepreneur, both domestically and internationally. Dr. J., as his students call him, also has an impressive array of academic credentials which allows him to bring both a practical and academic perspective to his teaching and writing.
During his distinguished career, D. J. has traveled to over seventy countries and lived in ten. He was founding dean of a graduate business school with classes in Seattle, Hong Kong and the Philippines, co-founder of the first western style bank in the former Soviet Republic of Kazakhstan, and one of the U.S. negotiators on the military portion of the Panama Canal Treaty.
Dr. J. spent two decades in Christian higher education, focused primarily on seeing Jesus and his gospel honored through business, as well as entrepreneurship to alleviate poverty in the poorest parts of the world. He did so as leader in the movement known as "Business as Mission" (BAM).
Dr. J's passion for Christ in the marketplace is seen in his 2009 book, Business as Mission (BAM): A Comprehensive Guide to Theory and Practice. Now in its seventh printing, this work has been acclaimed by evangelic and business leaders alike as one of the preeminent works in this exciting new mission field. He followed this success with a 2022 highly acclaimed sequel, Business as Mission in a Nutshell - All of the Basics: The Essential Road Map for Christian Entrepreneurs.
Dr. J. retired from teaching in 2019, but continues to write extensively in the mountains of Colorado and Nevada where he lives with his wife, Erika.
