If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and to invite him into your heart, a sample follows which you can use. The typical pieces of such a prayer include acknowledgement, repentance, belief and commitment.

  • Acknowledgement: Recognize that you are a sinner, and you need God.
  • Repentance: Desire to turn away from sin.
  • Belief: Trust that Jesus is the son of God, died for your sins and was raised from the dead.
  • Commitment: Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord.

A Sample Prayer

Lord Jesus, I need You. I recognize that I am a sinner, separated from You because of my sinful nature. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins and being raised back to life for me. I acknowledge that You are the Son of the one and only true living God, creator of the universe. I ask You to forgive my completely, cleanse me and make me one of Your true servants. I open the door of my heart and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving me and giving me eternal life. Help me to follow You and obey You from this day forward. Amen.
